Who is JADAV Payeng ?? Tell briefly about his life story !

Jadav Payeng was the Assam's forest man.He belongs to the Mising tribe who migrated from Arunachal Pradesh to Assam. He single handedly planted nearly 1350 acres of forest to save his island. He converted the Majuli into the largest river island in the world. He started his work in 1979 when he was 16 years old! The forest department opened hands that there is no possible way to grow trees on a sandbar, but Payeng passionately planted saplings and took care of them. he as a single man converted the sandbar into a lively forest !!now he is 52 and is happily living with his family in the forest ! A big salute to him !!
