John Hallock was a writer according to the chapter The Shady plot. He wrote ghost stories only on the request of Mr Jenkins who was the only one who used to encourage him and publish his stories in his magazine. John Hallock's wife was Lavinia. He never liked to write ghost stories as he felt that he was not specialised in ghosts but ghosts have specialised in him. That was because, he never got the plot immediately but at the peak of the hour came out with an excellent story.
