Gautama Buddha came to be known as light of Asia after Sir Edwin Arnold mentioned about him as 'enlightened one' in his poem.

But, in my opinion, Buddha is a term simply entitled to one who is enlightened. So it might not be simply Gautama Buddha he is reffering to as light of Asia, but all those Buddhas/ enlightened ones in Asia as Asia is hub of origin of several hermit cultures.
