Nirmala Devi was born on 26 June 1984 in Hisar district in Haryana.She started wrestling at the age of 15 as she was inspired by her grandfather who was a great wrestler. Nirmala’s first Akhada was Mahavir Stadium, Hisar first coach was Mr Satbir and Mr Subash. Currently, she is training in Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, Karnal under Coach Sh.Mohan and Sh. Kuldeep. She had to go under nose surgery in 2008 and after that ankle surgery in 2011 and in 2019 she tore her knee, so had to get a surgery done. Her favourite wrestler is Yogeshwar Dutt and favourite sport other than wrestling is Kabaddi.Nirmala’s best wrestling Memory till date is when she lost a very close Final bout of 2010 commonwealth games in final seconds against the 2008 Olympic Medal winner wrestler from Canada
