• The Judiciary [ Supreme court ] is the final interpreter of our Constitution.

• The powers of the Government are shared among three organs.

• They are Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.

• Legislature comprises of members of Parliament. It makes the laws.

• Executive comprises of Prime minister, ministers, etc which executes the laws.

• Judiciary interprets the laws. Supreme Court is the top level court in the country which interprets the Constitution.

• This division of powers was inspired from the theory of separation of powers proposed by Montesquieu.

• He mentioned this theory in his book " The Spirit of the laws".
