The Finance Minister looks after the portfolio of finance. R. K. Shanmukham Chetty was the first finance minister of independent India. He presented India's first Budget. At present Arun Jaitley, of the Bharatiya Janata Party is the finance minister. He has been in office since 26 May 2014.
