Todd was a major at university club Montreal. He and narrator were very close friends. Their relationship is proved true when Todd constantly keeps sending letters to narrator about the temperature conditions and weather of Bermuda.

Todd had borrowed a dollar from stephen leacock (the speaker) on the day of his departure to bermuda. He was also one of his good friend.
