Winston Churchill was British prime minister from 1940-1945 and again between 1951 and 1955. He is best remembered for successfully leading Britain through World War Two. He was famous for his inspiring speeches, and for his refusal to give in, even when things were going badly.

His greatest accomplishment was as Prime Minister of the UK, ensuring the country stayed strong even during the blitz and Battle of Britain, at which point it was really just Britain against the German might.
Before the French surrender he stated:
"We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land, and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be."
Churchil more than Stalin deserved the title m of steel. And he would lead the British to success and eventual victory with American and Russian support.
He is also known for:
Disaster at Gallipoli
Journalism
Whisky
Cigars
The quote “My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly”
Being the only Brit every made an honorary American citizen
Wanting to use chemical weapons dropped via aeroplane in Iraq during an uprising
Writing a letter implying Ghand should have been executed/assassinated to one of his minions in India
“Letting” millions of Indians starve (this one is up for deabate and you should self research)
His experiences in the Boer War
Painting
His many, many other roles in politics
The series: A History of the English Speaking Peoples, and his Nobel Prize in literature before that, along with many other books and his recorded speeches.
In my humble opinion, he is one of two people most important in the 21st century and its outcome, with the other being George Marshall.
