Govind Guru led the tribal revolutionaries in Rajasthan during the revolt of 1857.
He was primarily associated with the Bhils, a conservative tribal community. Govnd Guru also organized Adivasi movements against the British rule as well as the native kings. He established the Sampath Sabha for the moral upliftment of the Bhils. His Bhagat Movement focused on following agriculture, observing temperance and giving up superstitious beliefs among others.
His actions made him face opposition from the English and native kings alike.
