It was due to slow changes from generation to generation. Our mouth protruted inside, our cheek bones became sharper, our back became erect, our limbs became stronger. All these changes happened very slowly and was passed on to the next generation , it's called as evolution. We don't evolve from monkeys we evolved from a apes. Apes are our ancestors but we cannot say we directly came from apes. Apes came from one ancestor and we have also evolved from the same ancestor and we have branched out. This is how apes are related to us.
