The 1st Tamil language book "Thambiraan Vanakkam" was published on 20th Oct 1578. The book has 16 pages with 24 lines on each pages. The book  "Thambiraan Vanakkam"  was the translation of "Doctrina Christam" by Henriques.

The 1st Malayalam book "Cherupaitangalku Upakarardham Englishil ninnu Paribhashapedutiya Kadhakal" was printed by C.M.S Press in 1824 at Kottayam. This book is a translation of the book of English short stories, the book has been translated by Benjamin Baily.
