Answer – On the April 30th of 1975, Viet Cong and Communist North Vietnamese led an attack on Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam.

The capital was captured by Communist North Vietnam, and South Vietnam had no option but to surrender due to the limited support from the American army despite President Nguyen Van Thieu's desperate pleas to the then President of America, Gerald R. Ford.

This ultimately ended the Vietnam War and led to the unification of Vietnam.
