Anne Frank { Anneliese Marie } was a German - born Jewish girl . She was born on 12 June 1929 . Her father's name was Otto Frank and mother's name was Edith hollander frank. She had an elder sister Margot . Margot was born in Frankfurt , Germany 1926 . Anne also had a grandma but she fell ill in the summer of 1941 and died in January 1942 . In the name of a best friend anne had a diary which she named as Kitty. Kitty was given to her by her father on her 13th birthday as a gift after that and she started writing diary . Anne also had a good friend Sanne , she was good at poetry.
