Alluri Sitarama Raju and his role:

• He was an Indian Telugu innovatory who was involved in the Indian independence movement.

• Raju was inspired by the NCM and convinced people to wear khadi and give up drinking. He also proclaimed that India could be progressive only by the use of force, not non-violence.

• The rebels attacked police stations, tried to kill British officials, and carried on the guerrilla war for attaining swaraj. Raju was arrested and executed in 1924, and over time became a traditional hero.
