Ashoka was the emperor of maurya dynasty and was the grandson of the founder of maurya dynasty, chandragupta maurya. He almost ruled over all the indian subcontinent. He expanded his territory to present day Afghanistan to west and present day Bangladesh in east. He conquered kalinga which his ancestors never had done but after witnessing a massive deaths and destruction during the war of kalinga, he decided not to fought a war again and after he becomes a follower of bhuddism as to gain internal satisfaction and peace. He is known for pillars and stambs that were made during his rule and he also sent Buddhist monks Sri Lanka and central asia (Asian countries) which was the first step taken by anyone to promote Buddhism in other countries and it was the first time Buddhism was spreading across other countries. He was a great emperor and also known as "Ashoka the great "
