Answer:

Mohammed Bin Tuglak was called by the name Mad Sultan and the wisest fool in Indian History.

Explanation:

Mohammed Bin Tughlaq is an artist, multilingual person, philosopher, philanthropist, and a person of wisdom. He was very good in maths, astronomy. He also knows calligraphy, Sanskrit, medicine. He is also a very good warrior.

The above made him as an intelligent man and the below makes him a fool.

Haste.

His actions which made him fool are:

Bin Tughlaq dreamed of ruling whole India. To make his dream true, he built a big army. The army was so big that it had 4, 00,000 lake horse warriors. For fulfilling the expenditures of the army he ordered people to pay more taxes. This resulted in farmers paying more taxes and leaving their lands for some other jobs as they could not pay taxes. This resulted in less food and famine in some parts of the state.

To fund his army, he ordered mints to print more currency. People started fake mints and used their own currency. This action resulted in loss of economy to the nation.

Seeing this, he demonetised currency printed by press other than state press. Now people did not have any valid currency with them.

In between as he wanted to rule the whole India he thought that he has to move his capital to Southern India. He choose Devagiri, a place near Godavari River and shifted his capital. The problem here is that he also made all the people of Delhi to shift their home. After shifting to Devagiri, he realised that this move is a mistake and once again shifted his capital to Delhi. This time also he made people to move along with the capital.

Small rulers started making revolts against Tughlaq’s rule. To bring fear in the mind of small kings, if he can win over China, then he can make a very big nation and this will instil fear in the small rulers mind. So he made an army to cross the Himalayas. The plan failed as they were not able to withstand the harsh cold.

And so is the story of an intelligent man who become a fool because of his haste.
