Dietrich brandis a German expert was appointed as the first inspector General of forests in India. He introduced the system of scientific forestry in India because he and of course the British wanted to frame laws which would restrict the feeling of trees by foresters and villagers.
He made people understand the science of conservation of forests
Prevented grazing
Protected forests as British wanted Timber from the forests
