Dr B.R Ambedkar was born into a lower caste family having personal experience discrimination, spent in his whole life in working for the upliftment of the lower caste. The caste system was a challenging task and he held a firm view that till caste system continuous, the liberation of the the outcast is not possible. He started the All India Depressed Classes Federation to make the voice of the depressed classes heard. Ambedkar obined that there should be a separate system for the untouchables and lower caste people. In Bombay he formed a Bahiskrit hitkarini sabha in July 1924 for this purpose. Later, he also organised the Akhil Bhartiya dalit sabha to fight against caste oppression. To make his voice heard to a larger audience he launched a newspaper called Mooknayaka ( leader of the silent).

He who was the chairman of the drafting committee of the constitution of India. When the constitution came into effect in 1958, it is clearly stated the abolition of untouchability and forbade the practice of it in any form.

Since independence, the schedule caste and tribes has benefited by the reservation policy this policy was made an integral part of the constitution by the efforts of Dr B.R Ambedkar.
