Aristotle was the first to attempt a more scientific basis for classification of plants. He classified them on the basis of their morphological characters. He classified plants into trees, shrubs and herbs.

in 1957 , Robert Whittaker successfully classified plants into 5 groups.

For plants the division is Plantae.

Its divisions are

Thallophyta

Robert Whittaker studies the classification of plants by Carl Linneaus on tge basis of root stem leaves specialised tissue for the conduction of water and other minerals beating the plant body from one place to another and the ability to bear seeds and whether the seats are naked or covered .

the system of classification by Robert Whittaker is is used worldwide very commonly .
