At this point in time it was integral for a man to care and protect and almost take charge over his family, how would this man do so? I also believe the fear in those “blank stares” when she notices them is heart-wrenching; they do not wished to be seen in this way, they are afraid of what the society that inflicted this upon them may think. This could also be a reference to how bleak their futures are of a result- these men physically paid the cost for other people’s battles.

Gunda Dhar is known to be the leader of the bastar rebellion. He hailed frm the village of Nethanar and is considered to be an important face in the revolt. Is the bastar rebellion talked in the context.

Gunda Dhur was a tribal leader of village Netanar, of Bastar district, in Chattisgarh. He played a major role on the rebellion of the Dhurwas of Kanger forest in Bastar on 2 February 1910.

In 1905, the colonial government proposed the reservation of 2/3rd of the forest area and stop shifting cultivation, hunting and collection of forest produce and exploit the natural resources for their own benefits

Gunda Dhur Tribal leader played a major role on the rebellion. Gunda Dhur played a major role in organizing tribes against the British. Red chili, Soil, Bows & arrows, mango tree branches  became the medium  of spreading massage among the tribal.  The rebels led by Gunda Dhur robbed, looted and burnt British granaries and redistributed grains to the poor. Apart from that, they fought against injustice being done to the tribal by local zamindaar and leaders as well.

Even though the British were able to suppress rebellion movement, it took three months to bring the situation under their control by using heavy arms and ammunition. Later the Area to be reserved was reduced to half

The tribal people living across the Kanger Forest region praise the heroic acts of Gunda Dhur in various folk songs, stories etc.
