Hanneli was Anne's best friend.She was a shy and strange girl. Hanneli appeared in Anne's dreams as Anne was guilty of not being able to save Hanneli from the hands of the Nazi. Anne was safe with her family at that time but Hanneli was not. This left Anne devastated and made her imagine Hanneli in dream.
