first of all he makes up conversation with him and then catch him in talks .The intruder was also smart he discloses his plan and Gerrard was also Smart enough and keep engaged him in conversation .Then he make false story that police is after him also .So ,both has to run from there .He ask intruder to careful and save himself and when he was opening cupboard door ,he wisely locked intruder in that and make a call to his friend to send sergeant .He intends to handover intruder to them.
