His full name was Antoine-Laurent de Lavoisier.

Lavoisier was a prominent French scientist, nobleman, chemist and biologist and also a well known physiologist.

He was born on 26 August 1743 in Paris, France and died on 8 May 1794 (aged 50) in Paris, France.

He is known for combustion, identified oxygen, identified hydrogen and stoichiometry.

He was the leading figure in the 18th-century chemical revolution.

He established the law of conservation of mass.

He is considered as the "father of modern chemistry".

For his work on urban street lighting in 1766, he was awarded a gold medal by the King of France.

In 1768, he was elected to the French Academy of Science.
