'Paras' in literal terms means 'the philosopher's stone. ' Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the leader of the Sikh Empire, was called Paras due to his philanthropic nature. He was once going out in a procession when an old woman rushed to him and accidentally hit the Maharaja with an old iron pan.
