Miss Mebbin was the paid companion of Mrs. Packletide.During the tiger hunt she accompanied Mrs. Packletide. She was the one who first noticed that tiger was not died of bullet but by heart failure and the goat was strucked by the bullet. Afterwards she used these fact to blackmail Mrs. Packletide to buy her a weekend cottage at Darking.
