montmorency was the pet dog of author. his main job is to disturb the others poking his nose where it is required. he unfortunately involved himself in all the jobs performed by Jerome, Harris and George. he loved to do what was not expected from him. during packing he came and sat down on things just when they were wanted to be packed. he was proud of doing these things.
