principal of Cambridge high school.He was a kind teacher for Helen.He teached him history etc.He also allowed Mildred to join the school with Helen.Due to some misunderstanding between helen and gilman.Helen was withdrawn from school.Helen respected gilman alot.

Mr Gilman was the principal of Cambridge school for young ladies. he and Frau grot, Helen' German teacher learned the manual language for Helen .he instructed part of the English literature for Helen .his broad views in history and literature made Helen' work easier for her.he loved her a lot and kindly offered to let Mildred study in his school.he laboriously helped Helen during her preliminary examinations reading to her the questions and her answers so that helen could make changes.he protected her and was always concerned about her. however this concern of proved to be disastrous as he reduced her portions and this led to a fight between him and anne sullivan . this compelled kate , helen's mother to withraw both her children from his school
