Salvador Allende was the President of Chile from 1970-1973. He was the first Marxist to be elected President in any country of the world.

1.  President Allende redistributed the land to the poor landless farmers.

2.  President Allende reformed the education system and provided thousands of scholarships to poor and marginalized students.

3.  He provided free food grains to the needy and free milk to children.

4.  President Allende started various programs to help the poor and peasants, and workers.

5.  Allende announced the hike of 40% in the wages of local workers.

6.  The tax on basic daily needs was also abolished by him.
