Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian woman to go to space !

▪️She is born in Karnal , India on 1 July , 1961 .

▪️ She obtained a degree in aeronautical engineering from Punjab Engineering College and she even completed masters in University of Texas .

▪️ Kalpana Chawla's first opportunity to fly in space came in November 1997, aboard the space shuttle Columbia on flight STS-87.

▪️In 2000, Chawla was selected for her second voyage into space, serving again as a mission specialist on STS-107.

▪️ On 1 February , 2003 the shuttle was about to land in Texas but due to technical issues the insulation had been damaged and the thermocol protection had broken off and to the tragedy all the crew who went along with her too died in that accident .
