THE FIRST INSPECTOR GENERAL OF FOREST IN INDIA WAS DIETRICH BRANDIS.
HE SET UP INDIAN FOREST SERVICE IN 1864 AND HELPED FORMULATE THE INDIAN FOREST ACT OF 1865.
