The first martyr of Telangana struggle was a student named Shankar from Sadavashivapet of Medak District.
In the Telangana Movement for statehood the Students were on forefront. All the schools, colleges and Universities were closed in 1969. There were protests in the Campuses. So among the 369 martyrs in 1969, the Student Shankar was the first who sacrificed his life for Telangana.
