Aryabhatta.
Aryabhatta was born in India in 476 AD.
He was an intellectual rebel of his time.
He was just 23 years old when he became very famous in Kusumapura, that is now in Patna.
He had stated that the Earth was a spherical ball.
He further defined it as 'circular in all directions'.
This was at least 1000 years before Copernicus.
He had declared in a beautiful poem that the Earth rotates on its axis and it also goes around the sun.
Aryabhatta explained all this in very simple words. He had mentioned about all these aspects in a proverb.
