Warren Hastings was the first governer general of Bengal from 1772 to 1785.

He established two main reforms in the sphere of justice. They are

Two courts ,one for civil and the other criminal were established in every district.
Two high courts , one Sardar Diwani Adalat and the other Sardar Faujdari Adalat were established in Calcutta.
