The Ahoms, Mundas and Santals are tribes of India.The brief details of these tribes are mentioned below :-
Ahoms –The
Ahom tribes come from Ethenic Tai background. They supported Tai Prince to enter
the Brahmaputra Valley in the year 1228. They were rulers of this area for next
6 centuries. An Ahom Sukaphaa and his supporter were first
Ahoms who established this kingdom. They ruled and kept growing Ahom kingdom.
Later on British government won Anglo Burmese War in 1826. They entered in the Treaty
of Yandabo and gained control of the region. Presently Ahom culture is a modern
blend of Tai culture, Tibeto – Burmans and Hinduism.
Mundas – Munda tribe is an Adivasi group of people that used to live in the North east India’s Plateau region. Their primal language of communication was Mudari. This language belonged to Munda subgroup of Austroasiatic languages. This tribe is found across Jharkhand and in nearby parts of Assam, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and some part of Bangladesh.
Santhals - The Santal tribe is a scheduled tribe of people. This tribe lives in Terai of India and Nepal. Mostly this tribe is found in following Indian states –
1. Jharkhand, 2. West Bengal,3. Bihar, 4. Odisha, 5. Assam .
Small population of this tribe is also found in Bangladesh. Their primary language of communication is Santali. This community is one of the biggest tribal community found in India.
