 Mahavira(blessed/Bhagavan/Lord) was the last(24th) tirthankara of Jains. He united all the Sramana Sects who were believer in Jina Concept, also happen to be Vegan/Vegetarian/Atheist sects. Jina means a person who has conquered himself.
His followers were

1.eleven Brahmin–Ganadharas, 
2.sravikas
3.King Srenika
