the spiritual leaders of the muslims was known as the khalifa. when he was defeated in WW II , there were rumors about a treaty which tortured the khalifa. seeing this the angry muslims revolted and the khilafat committee was formed in 1919 bombay. it was led by two muslim brothers named Muhammed ALI and Shaukat ali they were the young revolters who formed the khilafat committee.
