Explanation:

People aren't opposing the whole policy. People have problem with just one or two changes that's been made. For example, many people (including me) think that the decision to make regional languages the medium of instruction till class 5 is not right. Now let me tell you why it isn't right. Now suppose there is a Marathi family living in Tamil Nadu. According to the new policy, all the schools there including private ones will be using Tamil as the medium of instruction( and not English). In this situation what will this Marathi family do? Where will they send their children to study?

People say that if in countries like China, Japan, Germany, France, local languages are used as the medium of instruction then why can't the same happen in India. Such people fail to realise a basic difference between India and these countries. In the countries mentioned, there are very few ‘local/regional’ languages and at least one of then is spoken by almost everyone (for example, in Germany 95% people can speak German). In India, there are 122 major languages and several other dialects. The most spoken language is Hindi but it is spoken by just around 40% of the population.

If in a country like ours where there are so many languages, it is tried to teach students in local languages then several problems will arise.
