The Constituent Assembly was actually the body that framed the Constitution. The Constituent Assembly was not elected directly by the people but by the Provincial Legislative Assemblies. The Congress took care that all these members represented different political parties, communities and regions. There were members from the Scheduled Castes also. The most prominent members were Dr Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, SP Mookerji, KM Munshi, Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru, Dr BR Ambedkar ,AK Ayyar, HN Kunzru, C Rajagopalachari, Sarojini Naidu, Vijayalaxmi Pandit. The Anglo-Indians were represented by Frank Anthony, the Indian Christians by HC Mookerjee and the Parsis by Sir HP Mody.
