Shillong: As the counting of votes for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) in Meghalaya concluded, the Congress has emerged as the single-largest party with victory in 12 out of 29 seats.
The National People’s Party (NPP) closely followed Congress as it grabbed 11 seats.
While the BJP has won 2 seats, Garo National Council has managed to grab just one seat. Three remaining seats were secured by independent candidates.
The United Democratic Party (UDP) could not even open its account.
