Each year the money in the accounts earns a 10% interest. After one year, the total amount of money in the account was £2200. How much did Heather invest? Question 2: The population of an island has decreased by 40% over 50 years. The population in 2018 was 360. What was the population in 1968?

Then, according to the condition,

 x + 0.1x = 2200,   or

x*(1 + 0.1) = 2200,

 1.1x        = 2200

x        = 2200/1.1 = 2000.

Heather invested $2000.
