Nicola glares at his brother Jacopo in vexation . This is because he doesn't want the narrator to know about the secret of their sister and doesn't want his pity. Nicola is hesitant after what has happened to his family and is very cautious of whom he trusts. Both of the boys are selfless and do not want to rely upon anyone.That is why Nicola is annoyed and he glares when his brother asks for a ride.
