A balanced chemical equation is one which contains an equal number of atoms of each element on both side of the equation.
According to law of conservation of mass, matter can neither be created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction. During a chemical reaction the total mass of react ants and products remains the same

Explanation:
A chemical equation in which the total number of atoms in reactants and total number of atoms in product are equal is known as balanced chemical equation.
For example-:
normal equation,
Mg + O2 ------> MgO
balanced equation,
2Mg + O2 --------> 2MgO
in the above example we can see that the atoms of Mg (Magnesium) and O (Oxygen) are equal in both sides.
Chemical equation should be balanced to satisfy the law of conservation of mass which states that the mass of products in a chemical equation must equals the mass of reactants.
