Buffer solution is the solution of weak base with strong electrolyte of weak acif with strong electrolyte . It Resist the change of pH
For example
Acidic buffer ..
CH3COOH → CH3COO- + H+
CH3COONa → CH3COO- + Na+
pH = p^ka + log[salt]/[Acid]
in this case .. common ion effect also take place
Another example ...
Basic buffer
NH4Cl → NH4+ + Cl-
NaCl → Na+ + Cl-
pH = p^ka + log[Salt]/[Base]
For example
