Wht is light..........
Answers
☯ AnSwEr :
Light is just one form of electromagnetic radiation, or electromagnetic waves. These waves are all around us and come in many sizes. The largest electromagnetic waves, with wavelengths from a few centimeters to over 100 meters are called radio waves. In the 1600s both Isaac Newton and Galileo studied light. Newton used a prism to separate visible light into its various colors. Galileo attempted to measure the speed of light and concluded that its speed was too great to be measured by human reactions.
★ Additional Information :
- Light moves along at full “light speed”—186,282.4 miles per second—only in a vacuum. In the dense matrix of a diamond, it slows to just 77,500 miles per second.
- Goldfish can see infrared radiation that is invisible to us. Bees, birds, and lizards have eyes that pick up ultraviolet.
Light
Light is the radiation which makes our eyes to see the object. Light is a form of energy. We see everything around us using light. Light itself is invisible but makes other things visible. What we are seeing is actually the light reflected from the objects.
Properties of Light:-
- Light travels in straight line unless it is reflected by a polished surface or the medium of propagation is changed.
- The speed of light is not always constant and changes according to the medium through which it is travelling. It is the greatest in a vacuum.
- Light is composed of different colours, which can be seen when it passes through a prism.
Facts Regarding Light:
- In the vacuum, speed of light is 2,97,600 km/h or 3×10⁸ m/s
- The Sun's light reaches the Earth in just 8 minutes after travelling 148 million km from the sun.
- Optics is the scientific study of light. It is a branch of physics that describes the behaviour and properties of light and interaction of light with matter.
