Correct Question

What is work to be done to increase the velocity of a car from 30 km/hr to 60 km/hr. If mass of body is 1500 kg.

Answer

Given :-

  • Mass of car, m = 1500 kg
  • Initial velocity, u = 30 km/hr = 8.33 m/s
  • Final velocity, v = 60 km/hr = 16.67 m/s

To find :-

Work done - W

Solution :-

Work done , \boxed{\sf W = \frac{1}{2}mv^2  -  \frac{1}{2} mu^2 }

  • m = 1500 kg
  • u = 8.33 m/s
  • v = 16.67 m/s

\sf W = \frac{1}{2}mv^2  -  \frac{1}{2} mu^2

\sf = \frac{1}{2} \times 1500 [(16.67)^2 - (8.33)^2]

\sf = 750 ( 277.9 - 69.4)

\sf = 750 \times 208.5

\sf = 156375 J

\sf = 1.56 \times 10^5 J

\boxed{\sf Work\:Done = 1.56 \times 10^5 J}
