Williamson synthesis is the process in which sodium alkoxide reacts with alkyl halide to produce ether.

When tertiary or secondary alkyl halide reacts they will not give ether, so the process will not be called as williamson synthesis.
The main motive of Williamson synthesis is to produce ether.
