Why 2s2 electron is difficult to remove than 2p electron

Answer:

The electrons in the s - orbital are more attracted towards the nucleus than p - orbital electrons. Hence they would have higher Ionisation Enthalpy and hence difficult to remove.

Moreover s - orbital can accommodate only 2 electrons. In 2s2 condition the orbitals are fully filled. It’s also difficult to remove electrons from fully filled stable orbitals.
