Why 4methoxy benzoic acid is less acidic than benzoic acid.

That is the -OCH3 Group is electron withdrawing. The lone pair of electron present on the oxygen atom of the methoxy group gives +R effect. ... This makes the p- methoxy Benzoic Acid less acidic than Benzoic Acid. Due to +R effect of the -OCH3 Group the carboxylate anion gets less stabilised than in Benzoic acid.
