82°30E has been selected as the Standard Meridian of India because it is situated in the centre of all longitudes and latitudes in which our country is located. 82 degree 30 minutes is selected as standard meridian because it lies almost in center of the india.

Heya friend,

Here's your answer,

82 30' E has been selected as the Standard meridian of India because :-

✴️ Earth comprises of four zones which cover 15 degrees of longitude.

✴️ Since the local time differs by 4 minutes at every longitude, it would create mess regarding time for any nation which stretches across different longitudes.

✴️ Therefore, so as to avoid this confusion, each country chooses a standard meridian and the local time of the meridian is taken as the standard time of that country.

➡️ From Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh, there's a time lag of two hours.

➡️ Therefore, to avoid this confusion related to the time reference, the 82.30'Eastern Longitude has been taken as the standard time for the whole country.

✴️ This meridian passes through the middle of the country and therefore, is accepted nation wide.

The Standard meridian of India passes through Mirzapur in Utah Pradesh.

Hope this helps!!!!!
