why a bar magnet always stops in north south direction when suspended freely??

earth itself is a huge magnet. magnet has two poles-south and north.when magnet is suspended freely it stops at north south direction

subhanshu1: then why a north pole indicates north direction not south
sakshikure: north poles has negative charge and south pole has positive charge therefore electrons flow from positive to negative charge.so magnet indicates north direction

earth is a huge itself.earth had 4 directions north,south,east and west.if we will direct the bar magnet to the south ,it will immediately jump and move to the south or North direction
